The Official Color of 2012 posted in: Entertainment, Events, Fashion, Health & Beauty, Home, Trends, Weddings

The 2012 color of the year is Tangerine Tango (PANTONE 17 -1463), a spirited reddish orange. It’s a bit exotic, but in a very friendly, non-threatening way.

Offical Pantone Color of 2012

Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute®, describes the color as “Sophisticated but at the same time dramatic and seductive, Tangerine Tango is an orange with a lot of depth to it,” “Reminiscent of the radiant shadings of a sunset, Tangerine Tango marries the vivaciousness and adrenaline rush of red with the friendliness and warmth of yellow, to form a high-visibility, magnetic hue that emanates heat and energy.” I couldn’t agree more. My take, Tangerine Tango is an enchanting lady – she is beautiful, but also smart, a lot of fun, energizing, makes the people in her presence feel good all the while seemingly without thought, the ever sophisticated siren.

This haute hue is actually quite versatile. You can use it to create a vibrant and fun look, or dress it up glam for a sophisticated evening. Mix this tantalizing Tangerine with a sunny yellow such as Pantone Solar Power, a romantic purple like Bellflower or hot pink such as Cabaret for a bold and beautiful look. Pair Tango with a soft, warm neutral such as a natural neutral like Starfish or anchor it with Navy to show off its more sophisticated side. This Tangerine is just as comfortable at a formal evening affair as a casual afternoon luncheon – and in either setting its beauty commends attention

Expect to see provocative attention-getting Tangerine Tango as a hot hue in color stories for events and weddings in the coming year. It is high visibility, so use it to catch attention and highlight the most important elements of your design. You will also see the shade in women’s and men’s fashions, cosmetics, and home décor.

Just as comfortable at a formal evening affair as a casual afternoon luncheon, you can call on this color for most any occasion. For a vibrant and bold look, let this Tangerine tango with a sunny yellow such Solar Power, a romantic purple like Bellflower or hot pink such as Cabaret .Pair Tango with a soft, warm, natural neutral such Starfish to show off its more sophisticated side. In any setting this color commends attention.

Friends what do you think – Is this a color you will embrace in the New Year?

Have a colorful day!

The Indestructible Mani posted in: Great Products, Health & Beauty

Can it be true? Is there really such a thing as a no-fuss mani that can withstand attempted wear and tear, and still look like you just stepped out of the salon weeks later? As an event planner, it is a challenge to keep my nails from looking a mess, so when I heard the buzz, I had to know more.

Shellac, is the latest product in nail treatments from Creative Nail Design, or CND, and it made its debut a few months ago in @2,000 salons across the country.  Essentially, it is a hybrid between gel and polish. The end result looks just like polish, but it lasts much longer.

Before bringing it to you, I had to try it for myself. I finally got around to trying out Shellac two weeks ago, and I must say that so far this mani has proven to be indestructible. I have dared to do things with my hands (including scraping stubborn price tags off of glass vases… with only water and my fingernails)that I would never do before an event  AND vacation . So again, I’m two weeks in and my mani must last me another week and endure beaches. I am confident that it is up to the challenge.

Here’s how it works.  First, nails are shaped and lightly buffed. Next, the Manicurist applies a base coat, followed by two color coats and finally a top coat in the same manner as polish for a regular basic manicure. The difference is that after each coat of Shellac is applied, the product is cured briefly under ultraviolet light. A Shellac manicure takes about the same time as a regular manicure. Finding it difficult on most weeks to squeeze time in for a mani, I was thrilled that my nails were completely dry when I stepped out of the salon – Brilliant!

A few things to mention when considering a Shellacmani/pedi:

The cost is 30-50% higher for Shellac, running anywhere from $25-$100 depending upon our location. But the trade-off is, you need one less frequently than a regular mani, and they stay power is fantastic!

Color options are somewhat limitedShellac is available in about 12 colors. But the shades can be mixed to create more possibilities. Visit Creative Nail Design to see standard and mixed shades.

Removal – It is recommended that you return t the salon, but there are some DIY products on the market should you feel like attempting at home.

Find a salon  near you.

If you have or decide to try it out, post a comment to let us know what you think.

Come Clean posted in: Great Products, Health & Beauty

OK Society, you have asked, and I will answer. Some of you have inquired, “How do you keep your skin looking so great?” So, I am coming clean.

But, first may I say, THANK YOU!  I am certainly not perfect when it comes to my skincare regimen, but heck how can we expect ourselves to be, when we run from daylight ‘til dawn, sometimes walking through the door and literally falling into bed at the end of the day. I fall asleep in full make-up at least one night a week, but I digress.

My routine. It’s really quite simple:

1. Cleanse
2. Exfoliate (only do this step 2-3 times a week)
3. Tone
4. Protect
5. Moisturize (eye cream gently patted around your peepers and a great face cream….this most definitely includes your neck and décolleté)

OK, now for the real trick.
Clarisonic Cleansing SystemMy beauty weapon is the Clarisonic Brush. It’s kind of like a tooth brush for your face. It’s gentle, leaves skin feeling and looking smoother and cleanses so well that products absorb better. You massage your cleanser onto your face, and then let this little baby go to work. I sometimes also use it during the exfoliation step as well.

AND, it only takes a minute (a little beep every 15 seconds reminds you to move to a new location on your skin) and afterwards your face is GLOWING. It’s amazing!  You really get a deeper clean and as a result healthier skin. Healthier skin =s a clear, even skin tone and smaller pores which =s smilin’, happy people!

Bonus, they have different types of brushes so you can also use it on areas, like elbows and knees…scrubbing everything to a shiny hue.

I will say they’re not exactly inexpensive, but I use mine almost every day and I think it is TOTALLY worth the expense.

Click Clarisonic to get yours today.

Oh, and if you’d like to know the specific products that I use, let me know. I’d better happy to share.

OK, there you have it.

Now get glowing!
