The “Man”gagement Ring posted in: Trends, Weddings

When you see a man wearing a ring on his left hand, most would assume he’s married, but he may not have made his way to the altar yet – he may be rockin’ a mangagement ring!

You read correctly, a “man-gagement ring.” Yes, it’s an engagement ring for gents!

Danhov Mangagement RingMany women dream of the day when her true love will present her with an engagement ring on bended knee. But what about the guy? What symbol of commitment does he receive to show the world his heart belongs to another? Enter the mangagement ring.

While this concept has long been recognized in a lot of countries around the world, such Argentina and Brazil, this notion may be new to many as it has not been our tradition here in the States. Amada Gizzi, spokesperson for the Jewelry Information Center, says the idea is starting to take off in America “, and a recent survey found that 5 percent of men are now wearing engagement rings. And you may recognize a few gents who’ve worn these rings. Singer Michael Buble (pictured) sported one when he became engaged to Luisana Lopilato, and Jennifer Hudson presented an engagement ring to her then fiancé, David Ortega before they were married. m. buble mangagement ring rz635x550

Mangagement rings are also perfect for the bold woman who turns the table in the relationship and pops the question to her guy, now she can present a ring to complete the proposal.

Jewelry industry insiders report that they’re starting to see a lot more female clients doing the proposing! (Of course in these cases the gentleman who says “yes” does reciprocate with
a presentation of a diamond stunner to his fiancée). “The idea that the man will also wear an engagement ring symbolizes to many a new sense of equality in the relationship. It is an outward aknowledgement of commitment, from both the man and the woman.”

What do you think – will this become the way of the future or is it just another fad?

One Smart Cookie posted in: Food and Beverage, Trends

The only thing we like more than cookies and milk, is milk and cookies. And Dominique Ansel creator of decadent dreams and the coveted Cronut is a man after my own heart…again.
This innovative chef is one smart cookie! His latest creation is a mashup of a classic, all-time favorite treat. Friends, I give you – The Chocolate Chip Cookie Milk Shot.

Dominique Ansels Chocolate Chip Cookie Milk Shot

It’s as simple as it sounds. He’s flipped the concept of this fan favorite. Rather than dunking a cookie in milk, how about pouring milk into your cookie. The savvy sweet is is a shot glass made out of a chocolate chip cookie, then filled with milk. A food mashup – genius!

If you’re planning an event and searching for a new spin on sweets, look no further. This creative cookie creation is bound to be a hit!

What do you think of this culinary creation? Tell us in a comment below. If you love this idea, share it with a friend! And when you’re in NYC, definitely make plans to visit Dominique Ansel Bakery.

A Proposal to Consider A Proposal posted in: Holidays, Inspiration

Today is Proposal Daya day dedicated to marriage proposals. For those in love, this could be the big day that will change their lives!

Proposal Day is a day set aside for future brides and bridegrooms to stop hesitating and pop the question. The day was specifically chosen for this recognition by the creator to nudge procrastinating young lovers into matrimony because today is also the Vernal Equinox. The equinox is a time at which point day and night are equal lengths, a reminder symbolizing “the equal efforts of the two required to comprise the successful marriage.

I propose

Have you or someone you know been contemplating broaching the subject of marriage with THE ONE? Do you know someone who’s been carrying a ring in their pocket for a while now…waiting for “the right moment” to pop the question? Is this you? Consider that today may be the day – the exact encouragement and boost of positive reinforcement from the Universe that you need.

If you’ve not yet had this conversation with your love? The holiday is also meant to spark a conversation about the possibility of a future proposal, according to ProposalDay.com. So maybe your ring finger just has to wait — until next Proposal Day, that is (and there’s another Proposal day recognized in the fall).

When do you feel the time is appropriate for a couple to be engaged to marry? Did you and your love have a whirlwind romance, or did he/she  or you take their/your own sweet time ?Everyone is different, and it’s fun to hear different people’s take and approach. Check out this globetrotting groom’s six-year proposal – he spent 6 year planning!

What do you think of this – touching or torturous? Spill it in a comment below. Oh and if you like what you read, consider sharing it with a friend.

This Group is Well-Strung posted in: Entertainment, Events

There’s a new kind of boy band on the circuit, the singing string quartet, Well-Strung. The troupe presents themselves as a buff, pop-classical hybrid of juicy boy band and staid chamber group with a vocal component. New York Daily touted them as the “hottest thing with a bow since Jennifer Lawrence in The Hunger Games”.

Well-Strung

The show, a clever choreographed musical comedy act featuring classically trained musicians clad in black T-shirts and black slacks who string together the musical works of classical composers with today’s pop artists’ hits and share their personal stories in between song selections. Their style is a unique mashup of muscles, Mozart and marketing.

Their music is a combining of excerpts from well-known classical works by the great Mozart, Vivaldi and Bach spun with string arrangements of today’s pop hits by artists such as Pink, Adele, Kelly Clarkson, and Taylor Swift.  Music selections range from Whitney Houston’s classic, “I Will Always Love You,” to Kesha’s ‘crunkcore’ hit, “Your Love Is My Drug, in which the group does a skillful job of giving a highbrow gloss. If it suits, the assemblage can even deliver bootleg classics with bluegrass flair.

The group began performing live with a theater workshop of a show at Ars Nova in NYC in 2012. This opportunity led to a run at The Art House in Provincetown, MA and playing Off-Broadway at the Marjorie S. Deane Little Theater in the fall of that same year. The group quickly gained national and international attention for their unique mash-up of string quartet and boy band. They returned to Off-Broadway in 2013, also making their European debut at the Leicester Square Theatre in London, and releasing their first album.

So, who’s are the maestros and the impresario behind the music and muscle? Well-Strung stars first violinist Edmund Bagnell, second violinist Christopher Marchant, cellist Daniel Shevlin and violist Trevor Wadleigh. The show is directed by international award winning creative artist,Donna Drake, who knows just how far to push the novelty before it begins to feel stale.

The group could provide a fresh take on entertainment for a milestone celebration, a bar/bat mitzvah or even a gala affair…given in the right execution. Have a look and listen!

Slainte! Serve up a Little Conversation this St. Patrick’s Day posted in: Decorating Ideas, Entertaining Essentials, Holiday Decorating, How To, How Tos, Party Ideas

Any St. Patrick’s Day celebration just wouldn’t be complete without raising your glass and making a toast to good health and good friends. Whether you go all out on St. Patty’s Day, or
if you’re lucky to even remember to wear green, here’s a festive way to serve up beverages that’s guaranteed to have your guests’ “Irish” eyes a smilin’.

Create conversion bottles that can double easy décor for your St. Patty’s Day celebration. Use them to serve up your beverage of choice – a signature drink, tonic, or simply chilled water.  I LOVE the ones I found on Bliss Bloom Blog. These festive flasks will have everybody talkin’, and they won’t cost you a pot o’ gold to create.

All you need are green bottles and a gold glass marker or paint. Simple, easy, and inexpensive. Don’t have any green bottles? You’re luck (and in vogue) – be really “Green” and pick up a few bottles from your local recycling center.  This festive and eco-conscious project is easy to create. Follow  Bliss Bloom Blog’s how-to and in a few simple steps you’ll have an “upcycled beverage service”.

Oh, by the way, if you like what you see, remember to click and share with your friends!
