What is minx? In a nutshell, it’s nail art – futuristic and fun nail art. A glamorous treatment that lets women (and men!) extend fashion to their fingertips. You fun choose metallic nails like the ones you see here.

“Bubbly”ed over with enthusiasm posted in: Entertainment, Events, Society News

I’ve gotta tell ya, I’m totally energized to get to work designing gorgeous weddings, chic events and totally posh parties for 2010!

Recently I spent a full week in the Big Easy, where I totally indulged myself in all that’s new and now in the world of special events (not to mention way too much of some wonderful NOLA cuisine). Every day was a feast. I feel like I was continually fed (both in a literal and abstract sense). From daylight to dawn, I got a taste of the new event trends – I noshed on ideas, savored new looks and ambiance, indulged in the experience of some fabulous events with fellow event pros, and totally OD’d on eye candy.

I came away from the table full of new ideas and products, and am excited to put them to use. You’ll be sure to learn about some of the trends and products in many of my upcoming posts.

To tempt your taste buds, here’s one of my absolute favorites!

A Champagne Chandelier….
Isn’t it outrageously fabulous? This interactive beverage service is an uber-cool and super-chic way to add WOW! to your next party. Makes you want to break out the bubbly and host a positively posh party NOW, doesn’t it?

Cheers!

Ignite your passion through food posted in: Events

The keys to spicing up your Valentine’s Day may already be in your kitchen.
Knowing that the true way to a man’s heart is through his stomach, it’s time to use this to your advantage ladies! Give your Valentine’s Day dinner extra power by adding one or more of these seductive and oh-so delicious aphrodisiacs to the evening’s menu.

  • Oysters
  • Chocolate
  • Almonds
  • Vanilla

And don’t forget the bubbly, the perfect romantic libation.  A tried and true fave is Veuve Cliquot. Serve it chilled in festive flutes. For extra pizzazz, drop in a fresh blackberry or strawberry!
But, remember, you’ll want just enough to set the mood; not so much that you misbehave or even worse… fall asleep!
For dessert, try this decadent and desirable torte. It calls for a combination of a few flirtatious foods. Ooh-la-la

Chocolate Torte Dressed in Berries

  • A flourless nut cake coated in chocolate ganache
  • 1 cup toasted almonds, finely chopped
  • 6 Tbsp. unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2/3 cup unsalted butter, softened
1 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 tsp. pure vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup chopped fresh strawberries, plus whole berries for garnish
  • 1/2 cup strawberry preserves
  • 1/4 cup heavy cream
  • 6 ounces high-quality dark chocolate, finely chopped
  • Fresh mint sprigs for garnish (optional)

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Generously grease the bottom and sides of an 8- or 9-inch springform pan. Set aside.

Combine the almonds and cocoa powder in a small bowl. In a large mixing bowl, cream the butter and sugars with an electric mixer until fluffy. Beat in the eggs, and vanilla. Now fold in the almond mixture, then the strawberries. Spoon the batter into the prepared pan.

Bake 45 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Cool the cake completely in the pan.

Remove the cake from the pan and set on a serving plate or cake stand. (It is very fragile and moist, so keep it on the pan base.)

In a small saucepan, bring the cream just to a boil. Off the heat, add the chocolate and stir until smooth. Pour the mixture over the top of the cake, letting it drizzle down the sides. Decorate the cake with strawberry slices around the edge and whole berries or sprig of mint in the center on top. Refrigerate if not serving immediately.
This recipe has been adapted from The New InterCourses: An Aphrodisiac Cookbook

Ladies, adding some or all of these items to your menu will be like Kryptonite to Superman. Just like Lois, you’ll have your guy eating from the palm of your hand….literally!

Wishing you the loving-est of days!
Ciao!

In love!….lyrically speaking posted in: Fashion

Lyric ScarfI am in love! with Lyric Culture clothing. It sings to me…literally. This collection of chic threads echoes the words of hit songs we all know and love.

The designer, Hanna Rochelle Schmeider shares that she thoughtfully designs each piece by first placing a great deal of consideration into selecting lyrics, then researches the chosen lyrics to understand what the songwriter was trying to express. Having this insight allows Hanna to design collections in colors and a style that best expresses each individual lyric. And she has certainly turned out some big hits!

If you want a Revolution, the Beatles tune is available. Maybe you were born to be wild, now you can let everyone else know it by showing it. There’s a hot pink number that begs the question “Do you think I’m sexy? and one that declares you’re a “Heartbreaker” What ever your message, let lyrics sing it for you.

Lyric ScarfThe scarves are especially fabulous! These must have wraps keep you warm yet ultra-cool at the same time. Add one to a basic long-sleeve tee or sweater and jeans, and step out in super-chic style.

These pieces would also make a fantastic gift for your sweetheart. If you order now, you can have yours in time for Valentine’s Day!

So go ahead, snag one for yourself and your love today at www.lyricculture.com
